Treat yourself: 41 businesses participate in Baton Rouge Restaurant Week – The Advocate

One of Baton Rouge’s favorite weeks, Eatbr Restaurant Week, is gearing up for its winter affair from January 27th to February 1st. More than 40 local restaurants will offer Prix Fixe menus of culinary delights to enjoy the city.

Stephen Hightower, formerly of City Group Hospitality and current Director of Food and Beverage at the University Club, recently acquired Restaurant To Restaurant Week, which takes place in January and July. He hopes to use the event to “elevate Baton Rouge’s culinary scene and highlight the different types of really good restaurants.”

The prix fixe menus feature three-course meal options. From a $12 burger deal at Burgersmith to a $55 fine dining selection at Stroube’s, Slate features a variety of price points and cuisines.

New entrants include Nino’s, Hannah Q Smokehouse and Brasserie Byronz.

Hightower says Restaurant Week participation reached an all-time high in January, and he expects the summer to bring even more Baton Rouge establishments. From testing new dishes to highlighting favorites for new customers, restaurants have different motivations for participating, but the week is still about exposure, he added.

Herb Fong, owner of Jasmine’s on the Bayou and Hannah Q Smokehouse, said he’s had a lot of success with Jasmine in past Restaurant Weeks. This year, he expanded the restaurant week to Hannah Q Smokehouse.

He said he’s excited to show off new things for people to try like a new burger, a house-smoked Angus patty with jalapeno cheese curds and pepperoni cheese on a fresh-baked roll. Fong also says Hana Q will showcase its smoked meats in new ways, like a Teriyaki Smoked Chicken Bowl, for example.

Fong’s expectations for the special week include “bringing in new clientele and getting the brand out there.”
