Temporary work starting at Eckert Bridge – KTVB.com

The temporary repair should allow the bridge to open again before the summer season of the flying flying season, while the officials are planning a constant replacement.

Boise, the Aydaho-servants of Transport are expecting emergency repairs on Monday, February 12, at the unsuccessful 70-year-old Ekert Bridge over the Boyz River. They strive to temporarily open the transition before summer. The area of the Highway of Ada County (ACHD) and the Transport Department in Idaho (ITD) will work together on the project.

“The ITD brings its experience to help accelerate this repair of emergency bridges,” said ITD Deputy Director Dan Maclehini. “This teamwork demonstrates the power of interdepartmental cooperation, and we are committed to reopening to public and emergency services in order to have a safe and functional passage while the long -term project replacement solutions are being developed.”

The $ 500,000 project will use steel slabs and concrete foundations to enhance the deteriorating wooden supports of the Eckert Road Bridge. Crews must compete to complete the work before the spring river streams make conditions dangerous.

“ITD is a critical partner to ensure that we can open this bridge as quickly and safely as possible,” said ACHD director Ryan Head. “We evaluate the expertise and assistance of our agency of our partner agency in the development and implementation of this intermediate repair plan. These repairs are intended to allow the re -opening before our popular float season while providing ACHD extra time for the proper planning of the long -term replacement. “

The bridge closed sharply in January. ITD quickly tracked the repair designs based on similar work done in North Idaho.

Workers will divert parts of the river to install reinforcements, with a process expected to take four to eight weeks. The neighboring pedestrian bridge will close during construction.

The temporary repair should allow the bridge to open again before the summer season of the flying flying season, while the officials are planning a constant replacement.

Built in 1954, the bridge serves as a key crossing for both vehicles and emergency services. ACHD will recover this for materials and labor costs.
