Discovering Reception: The future of here – the hub in John Hopkins

Discovering Reception: The future of here – the hub in John Hopkins

Description

Join Pele to celebrate the opening of the “future of here: a look at the next river culture.”

The future of here is an invitation to rethink our place along the Jones Falls River and the Chesapik Bay in the distant future beyond our fossil submission. Think about how local landscapes and cultures may look like a time beyond Baltimore, which we know now. What artifacts can people produce from this future time and how could they use the many things we leave creatively?

The exhibition includes a work made by a team of artists and researchers at John Hopkins University in the fall of 2024, anchored in the class, scientists from the visual artist Jordan Tyrny and the eco anthropologist Anand Pandian. The exhibition presents artifacts and evidence from our collective journey into the future.
