Arla Konophasek Necrologist | February 13, 2025 | Norfolk, New York – Home for Funeral

Funeral services for Arla M. (Deitlof) Konopasek, 93 years old, from Norfolk, Nebraska will be 11:00 am Monday, February 17, 2025, at the Lutheran Church of St. Paul in Norfolk. The Reverend Paul Hirsch will serve.

Lunch will follow at home for the funeral chapel, 708 Georgia Avenue in Norfolk.

The visit will be Sunday from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at home for the chapel for funerals, 708 Avenue Georgia in Norfolk.

The inclusion will be on a later date of the church cemetery.

The service will be live on the funeral home website.

The funeral home is responsible for the arrangements.

Arla died on Thursday, February 13, 2025, in the legacy of Fountain Point Assisted Living, receiving a hospice of heart failure.

Arla May was born on September 1, 1931 in Norfolk, the biggest of four children of Herbert and Rosella (Pitke) Dathlof. Arla was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church of St. Paul. She attended the Lutheran School of St. Paul and the Norfolk public schools, graduating from the Norfolk high school in 1949. On July 8, 1951, she married Marvin Konopasek in St. Paul. They married 65 years and had four children: Katie, Gemini Richard and Randal and Nancy.

Arla and her husband owned and operated a double K restaurant/catering and King’s Ballroom and developed a Kings entertainment center. Arla performed various roles, including accounting, ticket sales, and every role that needed filling as a restaurant, doing all this with efficiency and smile. She and Marv could slide along the dance floor, enjoying the music of a large band and Marv’s favorite regiments. In the early years, her fresh home pies were a daily treatment in their first business, Goodie Shoppe, in the center of Norfolk.

She participated in the activities of her children as a 4-H leader, teaching baking, cooking and leadership skills. Arla was on the Board of Directors and Shaperon with the purple cadets and Bugle Corps in Norfolk, where she was traveling and cooking for the group. She slept where the children sleep, including many high school floors.

Arla was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church of St. Paul, singing in choir as a young woman and was a longtime member of women’s help, serving at various times as president, vice president, secretary and cashier. Over the years, she has been a member of Clubs with multiple cards and continued to meet some of her high school members for weekly coffee and monthly lunch until a few years ago. Arla has found new friends in recent years at Heritage at Fountain Point.

Survives from daughters, Katie (Blain) Osterman of Lincoln and Nancy (Veronica Papstein) of Siu Falls, SD; daughter -in -law, Liela Konophasek of Norfolk; Six grandchildren, Andrew (Sarah) Osterman, Mandy (Jason) Konopasek Peters, Liz (Derek) Ostrman Drews, Katie (Justin) Konophasek Zila, Daniel Konophasek and Machi Konopasek; Six great -grandchildren, Paxon, Jaslin and Kendel Peters, Jackson and Kaidon Zila and Apollo Drews; sister, Sharon (Val) Zoner, from Norfolk; And a few brothers and daughter -in -law.

Arla was preceded by her parents; spouse, Marv, in 2017; The infant son, Randal; son, Richard in 2019; brother, delayed Datlof and his wife Betty, sister, deed O’Gorman and her husband Jim; And a few brothers and daughter -in -law.

The family is grateful for the caring and professional staff at Fountain Point and the residents who became friends of Arla and staff of St. Croas Hospice.
