Data Retrieved from the World Health Organization and Processed by CEREPRI |
CEREPRI has retrieved and statistically processed injury mortality and population data (version: August 2004) from the WHO's WHOSIS Database. CEREPRI's statistical process on the WHO's original data includes: calculation of age adjusted mortality rates, grouping of ages and ICD codes into categories, calculation of averages for EU15 and EU25 countries, etc.
Differences between CEREPRI's processed data and other databases may be attributed to different vesions of WHO's original data.
The World Health Organization is the United Nations specialized agency for health. It was established on 7 April 1948. WHO's objective, as set out in its Constitution, is the attainment by all peoples of the highest possible level of health.
The WHO Statistical Information System (WHOSIS) is the guide to health and health-related epidemiological and statistical information available from the World Health Organization. Most WHO technical programmes make statistical information available.

Data Retrieved from the Community Road Accident Database (CARE) and Processed by CEREPRI |
CARE is a Community database on road accidents resulting in death or injury (no statistics on damage - only accidents). The major difference between CARE and most other existing international databases is the high level of disaggregation, i.e. CARE comprises detailed data on individual accidents as collected by the Member States. This structure allows for maximum flexibility and potential with regard to analysing the information contained in the system and opens up a whole set of new possibilities in the field of accident analysis.
The purpose of CARE system is to provide a powerful tool which would make it possible to identify and quantify road safety problems throughout the European roads, evaluate the efficiency of road safety measures, determine the relevance of Community actions and facilitate the exchange of experience in this field.
